Full time - Senior Management Role
Salary: £39,152 - £44,075 (SCP 28–33)

Minehead Town Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Amenities & Assets to lead the strategic and operational delivery of our public realm, environmental services and community assets. Following the expansion of the Council’s direct control over parks, open spaces and local facilities, this is a senior leadership role with substantial influence over how Minehead’s environment is cared for, improved and invested in. Your role will directly shape the quality, character and resilience of the town’s most valued public spaces.
About the RoleReporting to the Town Clerk, you will:● Lead the strategic planning and day to day delivery of amenities and place based services.● Provide strong people leadership to a committed operational team.● Oversee management of parks, open spaces, public conveniences, recreation facilities and community assets.● Manage budgets, ensuring value for money and resilience.● Lead Council-run events, from planning and safety through to on the day delivery.● Oversee the Council’s asset management system and long-term asset planning.● Provide clear, professional advice to Members and represent the Council with partners and stakeholders, supported by well‑written reports and documentation.● Participate in our management rota, including occasional evenings/weekends and emergency response.

Local government experience is helpful but not essential — credibility, sound judgement and a pragmatic, can do approach are what matter most.

Minehead Town Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Administration Officer to play a key role in delivering high-quality administrative, governance, digital and community support across the organisation. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the Council’s day to day operations, helping ensure our services run professionally, efficiently and with a strong customer focus.
About the RoleReporting to the Deputy Town Clerk, you will:● Be a welcoming first point of contact for residents, partners and visitors.● Deliver the day to day administration that keeps the Council running smoothly including producing clear, accurate written correspondence and documents.● Manage correspondence, filing, office supplies, digital records and contractor liaison.● Prepare agendas, reports and meeting packs ensuring good written accuracy and professional grammar and occasionally attend meetings to minute.● Support finance processes such as invoices, receipts and maintaining accurate records.● Help maintain the Council’s website and support the creation of social media content.● Support bookings, community engagement and administration relating to our facilities and open spaces.● Assist with Council-led events, occasionally providing on-the-day support.● Handle routine matters independently while escalating sensitive or complex issues appropriately.
You’ll work closely with the office Team, Councillors and the public, helping ensure our office delivers professional, responsive and well-organised services.
Who We’re Looking ForThis role will suit someone who:● Is organised, accurate and able to juggle multiple tasks calmly● Has excellent communication skills and enjoys helping people● Feels confident using digital tools, Microsoft Office and websites/social media● Works well as part of a small, supportive team● Can use good judgement when handling enquiries or sensitive information● Is proactive, reliable and keen to learn
Local government experience is helpful but not essential, we welcome applicants with strong transferable skills from customer service, administration, hospitality, retail, education, health, charities or similar sectors.
